Delivering State-of-the-Art Mobile Laboratory Solutions
AFMS International Successfully Delivers State-of-the-Art Mobile Laboratory Solutions for UNOPS in Niger
AFMS International, a leading provider of innovative engineering solutions, has proudly completed and in progress of finalising the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of six (6) X 40ft Mobile BSL3 container laboratories and two (2) BSL2 40ft Vetinary Container Mobile Laboratories for UNOPS, with the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Niger as the ultimate beneficiary.
In response to a crucial order received on August 16, 2023, AFMS International undertook the challenge of delivering two mobile BSL2 Veterinary Laboratories and six Mobile BSL3 Laboratories, including all necessary equipment, to support the urgent needs of the Ministry of Health in Niger. Despite the standard lead time for such projects being 22 weeks per laboratory under normal circumstances, AFMS committed to completing all eight laboratories by mid-April 2024, showcasing exceptional dedication and determination.
The simultaneous construction of eight laboratories posed significant logistical challenges, particularly in terms of resource allocation and space management. However, AFMS approached these hurdles with its characteristic vigor, ensuring that all necessary accommodations, including living facilities for staff working extra shifts, were provided on-site to optimize productivity and safety.
Given the mobile nature of the laboratories and the constraints of limited space, special engineering considerations were paramount. AFMS meticulously designed each laboratory to accommodate essential components such as Chiller/Air Handling Units, Generators, and water supply and grey water storage, ensuring optimal functionality within the confines of the provided trailers.
Each laboratory is equipped with a double-door autoclave and effluent decontamination system, meticulously tailored to meet the specific requirements outlined by the client. Extensive collaboration between AFMS's design team and Biosafety engineers and Scientists from the client's end ensured that the process flow within the laboratories adhered to the highest safety standards and operational efficiency.
Currently, the project is progressing as scheduled, with all eight laboratories set to be shipped to Niger via RORO sea freight within four weeks. Final manufacturing processes are underway, with laboratories being fitted onto trailers and tight plant rooms being finalized before the commencement of FAT and commissioning activities. Prior to shipment, each laboratory will undergo comprehensive commissioning at the AFMS Factory, followed by on-site recommissioning and end-user training in Niger, overseen by AFMS's expert commissioning team.
AFMS International remains committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that address critical healthcare needs, and this successful project underscores our unwavering dedication to excellence in engineering and customer satisfaction.
